In Gatlinburg, Tennessee, at least three bears certainly beat Goldilocks out of a fairy tale when they broke into a cabin to party on Friday morning. And whoa- we’re talking 11 bears according to Michelle Eberhart, who had been inside of the cabin chatting with her friend while their husbands were out playing golf.

“She just looked up, and she was kind of making some motion and I couldn’t figure out what was going on,” Michelle told CNN. “So I kind of moved a little bit and saw what she was freaking about.”

It seems one of the bears had entered the cabin by forcing its way into the locked front door. The women ran upstairs and hid in the bedroom while the bears – at least three others roamed around the cabin and on the outside porch.

The bears knocked over the trash, a book, destroyed a few decks of cards, scratched on the walls and the floors. They didn’t bother with the furniture, however they definitely had a sweet tooth. According to Michelle, the bears ate the candy and the snacks that had been sitting on the kitchen counter.

All in all the inventory of bear pilfered items included:

  • 5 pounds of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • 1 pound of M&Ms
  • 2 pounds of Sour Patch Kids
  • 2 bags of potato chips
  • 1 tub of peanut butter pretzels
  • 2 bags of Dove salted caramel candy

Of course, one would expect something to wash all that junk food down, so off they went with two beers, two diet cokes and even some of Michelle’s allergy medicine.

When police arrived the bears knew party time was over and quickly exited by jumping off the balcony. Three other bears were shooed away.

Need anyone ask if Michelle was happy on Tuesday morning to be heading back to Indiana.

“…this girl is just happy to be passenger in the 6 hour drive home for a guaranteed bear free nap! What a wild ride this has been!!! It was a very sleepless night rewarded by a beautiful sunrise on the road. Since sleep was impossible we made a very early departure. I woke up after having just finally fallen asleep to Dave hearing them trying to get in at 4:00 this morning!!”
