Update: The baby kangaroo was found in someone’s carport and is receiving veterinary care.
Chalk this story out of Monroe, Washington, up to another one of 2020’s ongoing year of whacky weirdness. According to the Monroe Police Department, a baby kangaroo jumped out of a van this morning and has disappeared.
The unusual Tweet has prompted quite a few baffled responses, from, “Looking around for the hidden cameras because I feel like I am being punk’d here,” to “This a joke right?”
The Tweet is not a joke – a kangaroo is actually missing.
And despite the department’s use of an adult (and strikingly muscular) kangaroo, KOMO News reports that the escapee is a baby kangaroo who is not yet weaned from milk. Anyone who spots the baby marsupial is asked to call 9-1-1 or 360-794-6300.

“Common sense is not so common” & “You can fix many things, but you can’t fix stupid” were two of my Dad’s fave sayings….. both are true in this situation….. that so-called friend should never have let the baby kangaroo loose…… better a mess than a missing furbaby…….
I hope this precious little treasure is found soon and alive…… it’s absolutely heartbreaking to think of all the bad things that can happen to him (8 weeks old, scared and in a strange place)…….
I think the owner needs to rethink how he is going to care for this precious little treasure and keep him safe……
