An investigator from the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is under investigation after shooting and killing a child’s dog in the head after arriving at the wrong home during a sex offender compliance check earlier this week. Chris Coiner, who lives at the home, said his dog was shot and killed because he barked.

According to Fox News,  James Freeman went to 72 Autumn Hills for the check, but was allegedly told the sex offender lived at 76 Autumn Hills road where Chris Coiner lives; and that was where Freeman shot the three-year-old dog named Clide.

Coiner recorded the interaction with Freeman, who allegedly told the dog’s owner he was an investigator looking for Samuel. When Coiner asked him at what address, the investigator said “72A”. Coiner ordered the investigator off his property.

“That’s over there you ******* moron. Get off my property! You shot and killed my dog!,” Chris yelled.

Coiner described the investigator’s blue pickup truck had been in his driveway when he heard a gun shot. The dog had been barking – not attacking, and had been in his own yard protecting the family’s home. The investigator had not made any attempt to get away from the dog nor had he make any attempt to get back into his vehicle. Chris stated all he did “was shoot the dog because he was barking at him.”

Clide had never been aggressive nor had he ever bitten anyone. Tragically, the family’s little boy doesn’t understand why his dog has not come home.

On Chris’ Facebook page, friends and family have seen how this tragedy has deeply affected the family.

“Well it’s been 5 days since the senseless murder of our beloved family pet ‘Clide’
Levin (3 year old son) woke up calling for Clide. My heart it breaks again every day without him.”

  1. OMG: another “Bully with a badge”……. This is totally disgusting……. that POS investigator should lose his badge. He didn’t handle the situation correctly. The dog was in his own yard and is expected to bark when a stranger approaches……. there was no reason to shoot a barking dog…….

The next thing you know this POS investigator will shoot a kid playing basketball in his own yard because he sees the basketball as a potential weapon…….

Condolences to the Coiner family from the Peters Puppy Pack on the loss of precious treasure Clide.

Clide, I know you are in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.

I hope the Coiner family can get justice for Clide. This shooting was completely unnecessary and just highlights “Bully with a badge” syndrome (which MUST be eliminated or people will never trust the law, ever)……. If that were me and one of my furbabies was wrongly killed, I would sue the department demanding the POS investigator’s badge AND a huge financial settlement for grief counseling for my entire family…….

  2. Some Cops don’t care who or what they kill in the name of “feared for their safety”. It’s no wonder nobody has any respect for the police that are supposed to serve and protect. Incidences like this make it bad for the good police out there and it’s gone on much too long.

    • Sorry, but I completely disagree as we have SEEN NUMEROUS times, the so called “good officers” COVER for the bad ones ALL THE TIME. How is that good?
