For nine years, Buddy was a member of the family, but he was replaced by a puppy. One day, nearly a year ago, Buddy thought he was going for an adventure in the car. Little did he know, Buddy’s life was to change forever.

“…they dumped him at a busy, municipal shelter on Long Island, N.Y. ..and  that he’d never see them again. They were getting a puppy and no longer wanted their old dog?!! One can only imagine his heartache…,” posted a volunteer at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

And now for a year, this senior has been at the shelter. Volunteers and staff state he loves to go for walks and explore his surroundings. He walks well on a leash and passes other dogs along the way with no reactions. He loves playing ball and is completely house trained. Doesn’t he sound perfect?

Buddy will do best as the only pet in the home where he can be the center of attention. It is also recommended he be in an adult family – children over 17 please.

Share Buddy’s plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Surely Buddy deserves better than to live the rest of his life in a shelter. They try, but a shelter is not a home.

Interested in this beautiful boy? If you are, please complete an adoption application and return it to the shelter so you can be pre-approved as a pet parent.
