At the Grand Union Canal in Southall, West London on Wednesday, police began an investigation after receiving reports of a man repeatedly submerging a dog.

The man was filmed pulling the dog by its leash and then throwing it into the canal. The cruel owner did this five times, and on the last throw held the dog underwater for several seconds as the dog desperately fought for his life.

The video had been uploaded to Instagram and showed the man dressed in a Union Jack jacket violently yanking the dog in and out of the water.

Social media users were relieved when the Ealing Police tweeted the dog had been rescued, and the man allegedly responsible for the cruelty had been arrested.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested. The dog is now with our officers.”

Many people responded to the good news about the dog’s safety and many have offered to adopt him.

  1. Why do the police not name the perpetrator? Criminals of all types have their names listed when arrested. I hope this heartless barbarian suffers the consequences and is taught a lesson since he clearly has no moral compass or empathy. This dog had better not go back to him because anyone who can do this to a dog will never change their ways.

  2. I THINK THE PERPETRATOR IS NOT ALWAYS NAMED BECAUSE
THE PERSON WOULD BE A “DEAD MAN WALKING!”

PERSONALLY, I WISH BOTH THEIR NAMES AND ADDRESSES
    COULD BE LISTED!
