In South Texas, an abandoned dog had been roaming in a field basically being eaten alive by fleas. When she was discovered by Animal Control on Monday morning, the fleas had been biting and jumping all over her. Rescuers administered a Capstar flea tablet to kill some of the fleas and provide the dog with some relief.
Dallas Dog Rescue Rehab & Reform were contacted to help. The organization, who so often accepts the most severe cases of cruelty and neglect, immediately responded.
“She has a large tumor hanging from her leg! Sweet girl was so weak and collapsed after she knew she was safe!…” the rescue posted on their Facebook page asking animal advocates for donations to help with her veterinary expenses.
On Monday, the eight-year-old dog, now named Eleanor was rushed to the emergency veterinarian hospital. She is having an emergency blood transfusion from a donor dog. Her blood levels are barely registering on her CBC.
