A young German shepherd, scared and not feeling well, is desperately in need of help at a busy California animal control agency. The two-year-old dog, dubbed Frankie, was taken in at the Palmdale Animal Care Center the first week of December and he remains there today.
Recently, the volunteer-run Facebook page established to help facilitate the adoption of homeless shelter pets, wrote a plea on Frankie’s behalf:
URGENT! 72 HOUR PLEA SENT! The Palmdale Care Center would like to secure a placement for this dog by 12/22/2019! I am reaching out to see if you can help pull this fearful/tense, sick from our Care Center. “Frankie” has not shown any signs of aggression with staff and is being treated with antibiotics.
The plea was issued, but Frankie remains homeless at the facility. Notes have been provided about his behavior during a playgroup:
As the runner approached his kennel he had a low head, his ears were back and he was seated tucked in the corner of his kennel. The runner opened his gate and stepped into his kennel. He attempted to avoid being leashed. After he was leashed, he attempted to pull away from the runner while walking to the catch pen. In the catch pen, he gave good gate greetings to the other dogs in the play yard that came to greet him through the fence. His ears were alert, his tail was high and he had soft eyes. He was easy to collar and leash in the catch pen. When he was allowed to enter the play yard he had a loose tail wag, high ears, soft eyes and he walked with and followed the group of dogs in the play yard. He played short spurts of chase and he bounced on his front feet to try to initiate play with the other dogs. Available for public adoption with kids 8+ required, Large Dogs OK.
