In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a young dog reported to have been beaten with a baseball bat, thrown into a creek and left to lie in pain for weeks at her “home” has been rushed to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Kentucky. A criminal investigation is currently underway.

“…we are now hearing after the incident with the bat, and then being thrown in the creek, that Halo was at her ‘home’ for 2 weeks laying outside with no medical treatment. We were under the impression that the bat incident just happened. Very sad this dog did not receive proper care or treatment,” posted The Arrow Fund’s founder Rachel Eaves on the organization’s Facebook page.

“Halo is in critical condition this morning. In addition to the reports of being beaten with a bat this girl has advanced Blastomycosis (a fungal disease), anemia, high white cell count and is a body scale 2 of 9. Here eyes will be evaluated today…”

Veterinarians are focused on Halo’s breathing since her lungs are compromised. Her respiratory rate remains dangerously high and everything possible is being done to save her life. Her condition is critical.
