A woman located northeast of Melbourne, uncertain of the “adorable” animal’s species crying in her backyard, asked Facebook readers to help her identify whether he was a fox or a dog. On Sunday, the woman posted photos of the adorable little creature she discovered on her property near Bright.
According to Yahoo News, the overall opinion on Facebook agreed with how cute the little creature was, but there were different opinions as to its species.
“I woke up this morning hearing a whimpering on my bush block. I can’t tell if it’s a fox or a dog,” she wrote.
And the debate began; some insisting it was a fox while others stated it was a dingo pup. On Monday, the woman posted she had taken the puppy to a vet, and later announced that Sydney Dingo Rescue had confirmed the baby was indeed a wild dingo.
Even though the woman’s children wanted to raise the pup as a pet, the woman had no intentions of messing with a wild animal meant to live free. The rescue advised her to leave the dingo in a box in the bush where she found it. The dingo is Australia’s only native canine and is protected in national parks.
