A woman in Cary, North Carolina, is facing an animal cruelty charge for the death of her German shepherd, Lilly, who was found dead in her yard. According to CBS 17 News, Lilly’s owner, Hanan Kharoufeh, was on the animal control agency’s radar – but nothing happened in time to save the three-year-old German shepherd.
Neighbors tell the news agency that they are not surprised that the young dog died – for months, the dog could be heard howling and crying from inside of her outdoor enclosure. Though animal control came out to the property to document the conditions, nothing was done to remedy Lilly’s situation.
It was a neighbor who reached out to officials last week to do a welfare check on the caged dog – the constant crying had finally come to an end and the neighbor was concerned. The worry was warranted – when an animal control officer visited the house at 106 Devonbrook Lane, Lilly’s lifeless body was discovered.
Lilly’s owner is suspected of depriving the dog of food and water and she is now facing a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty.

Here we go again – a misdemeanor. This kind of cruelty should be at least a felony that carries significant jail time and a hefty fine. When are legislators going to get serious about animal cruelty and begin holding those responsible accountable? This bitch deserves to be starved herself to know how her poor dog felt.
