The California woman, caught on video dragging a dog behind a scooter, has lost her job and she may be facing criminal charges. As reported by Bakersfield Now, 39-year-old Elaine Rosa is no longer employed as a contracted psychologist at Kern Valley State Prison and she could spend time behind bars if she is charged and convicted.
Rosa came under fire after she was caught dragging a small dog behind an electric scooter on January 6. Brandon Sanders witnessed the cruel situation and confronted Rosa. Sanders claims that Rosa was “indignant” and stated that she would call the authorities.
The dog, named Zebra, who belongs to someone other than Rosa, suffered injuries in the dragging incident – the dragging left Zebra with bloodied paws which had to be treated by a veterinarian. As reported by WECT News, Rosa was fired from her job just one day after the dog dragging incident.
The Bakersfield Police Department has recommended that Rosa face charges – she could face a $10,000 find and/or up to a year behind bars. The Kern County District Attorney is reviewing the case.
