Elderly blind dog, where is her owner?
Spread the love

An elderly, blind dog is being held at the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Baldwin Park facility in California – where is her owner? The 13-year-old dog, named Azul, was adopted in February 2018 – the shelter has reached out to her owner, but Azul is still at the facility, waiting.

What is known?

On February 11, a social media post was made on Azul’s behalf:

It is terribly heartbreaking just how many BLIND seniors find themselves at the shelter, and Azul is the latest😭 I am trying to stay optimistic for a positive outcome, because Azul had been adopted not too long ago, in Feb. 2018, from the Baldwin Park shelter, and whoever adopted her knew she was a special needs dog. The shelter is currently performing a trace on her microchip to locate her adopter, which is why she is not available to the public until Feb. 21st.

Adding:

We know a dog like Azul won’t have adopters lining up to put their name on the waitlist, so we’re hoping the #RescueVillage can start networking Azul to their favorite rescues. Azul is geriatric with worn teeth, and has obvious vision impairment… she has abnormal eyes (microphthalmic) with discharge😢. Despite her circumstances, this sweetie is friendly and gentle.

Azul was taken in on February 10 – it is now February 18 and Azul has not been reclaimed.

You can lend this blind senior dog a hand by sharing her adoption information.

  1. What is wrong with people who do this? Was she wandering the streets or did someone bring her in? What a sad situation for any dog especially a senior who is blind/vision problems. Can you imagine how they feel and how scared and lonely they must be, especially if she had a home. I hope those who adopted her are looking for her and take her home. For a senior this age, there will not be too many who would want to adopt an older, blind dog.

  2. Baldwin Park is a high kill “shelter.” They will kill her! I called them and drove up to adopt “Laughing Dog.” They killed him while I was driving from San Diego to L.A. to get him.
