In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a young dog reported to have been beaten with a baseball bat, thrown into a creek and left to lie in pain for weeks at her “home,” died on Friday afternoon at the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Kentucky. Sadly, “her little body could not take anymore.”
A criminal investigation is currently underway.
“…Beaten with a bat and then tossed in a creek – then having her ‘family’ (a term we are using loosely) leave this poor girl out in the elements untreated fro two weeks! She was unable to walk and nearly dying of starvation, and was found laying in a mud puddle, her paws raw with infection from being submerged in water…,” posted The Arrow Fund’s founder Rachel Eaves on the organization’s Facebook page.
On Thursday evening, Halo’s condition continued to deteriorate.
“Our baby is in ICU and being monitored 24 hours a day at Blue Pearl. We need love, light, and prayers now please. Her respiratory rate has increased while in the oxygen cage. This girl is also on the maximum pain medication that is safe for her… Quite frankly, we need a miracle…”
Tragically, Halo’s body suffered from severe neglect; she didn’t have the strength to fight for her life any longer. The following video was taken this morning shortly before Halo went into cardiac arrest. She was surrounded by love, and it is everyone’s hope, Halo knew how special she was; if only for a little while.
Rest in peace Halo.
