In Dallas, Texas,  UFC legend Frank Shamrock has admitted to tying a dog to the bed of a pickup truck at Dallas Love Field and walking away. Police were called after a concerned man reported he saw a dog tied up in the bed of a pickup truck that had been there for five days.

According to WFAA News, Shamrock left his mother’s dog, Zelda at Love Field because he couldn’t find a home for the dog. His mother was no longer able to care for her dogs; one of the dogs had been rehomed, but Shamrock stated no one wanted Zelda.

“They can charge me with whatever. I will show up. It is what it is. I’m not hiding in any way. It’s an unfortunate and terrible thing. I’m an animal lover and I ran away crying,” Shamrock said.

The seven-year-old dog Zelda is a Labrador retriever mix, and when found she was malnourished, but has since recovered. It is not known what will happen to her.

It is expected Shamrock will be charged with a Class A misdemeanor for abandoning an animal without making reasonable arrangements for her care and custody.

  1. “I’m an animal lover and I ran away crying,”???? REALLY????? Then why didn’t he at least turn the dog into a shelter where it at least had a fighting chance to be fed and adopted? There was NO excuse for this, he deserves any punishment he gets and then some! I’m sure his mother is really proud of him!

  2. I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe he couldn’t find a way to arrange for this dog’s care! Just another case of PURE HEARTLESSNESS!
