In St. Joseph County, Indiana, two dogs were found abandoned in cramped crates along the side of a road. The Humane Society of St. Joseph County was called to help on Thursday evening after receiving a call that two dogs were just thrown away as if they were trash. Temperatures that evening were in the low 20s.

According to the non profit animal welfare organization, the dogs were found on a stretch of Orange Road where their cages had been locked with the dogs frightened inside.

“Attention Community Members! We need your help identifying who may have abandoned these two dogs near Filmore Rd in South Bend-County area. They were found last night stuffed in crates. Please contact us at 574-255-4726. (These two are not available for adoption at this time but we will try to keep you updated on their progress.) Thank you for the help!”

Both dogs were covered in feces and urine; the small dog described as a poodle and Shih Tzu mix was extremely matted.

The dogs will be cared for and when they are ready to be adopted, applications will be accepted. Meanwhile, anyone who recognizes these dogs is asked to contact the Humane Society of St. Joseph County. Be the voice for those who cannot speak.
