Their tiny faces are too adorable. And yes, this is the litter of three-day-old puppies that were rescued after their owner threw them into a trash bin in Coachella.

Riverside County Animal Services posted the photos of the six puppies just now opening their eyes on Facebook. The puppies are in a foster home and are reported to be thriving. There were seven puppies originally rescued, however the runt of the litter died just a few days later.

“He was just so weak and held on for as long as he could. When I got him, he was pale and kind of flat looking, so I think he was the cushion that saved his siblings. As the lady threw the bag, I think he was at the bottom and took the hit when all of his siblings landed on him,” a shelter volunteer wrote when the puppy died.

The puppies will remain with their foster human; it is feared if they are reunited with the mothers, the puppies might be rejected after so much time has passed.

Deborah Culwell was arrested. Authorities found 38 more dogs at Culwell’s home. The animals were all seized and have been transferred to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms. They are all expected to be made available for adoption this week.

Investigators have called the case a “willful act of animal cruelty.” All of the three-day-old puppies survived and are being cared for at a rescue organization. Culwell has been charged with seven counts of felony animal cruelty and remained in jail on Monday evening.

  1. SO MANY PEOPLE absolutely DO NOT deserve the unconditional love they receive from their pets. Instead, it is the pets that pay heavy prices for loving their undeserving owners.

As always “Karma” is hard at work. In the meantime, we are the animals’ ONLY voice and hope.
