The man who was arrested for the death of the pit bull dubbed “Tommie,” has given his explanation for setting the dog on fire. As reported by WTVR News, 20-year-old Jyahshua Hill claims that he “snapped” after the pit bull attacked his child.
Hill told the news agency, “The dog attacked my daughter and I snapped. I did what I had to do to protect my kids from the dog.” Hill goes on to explain that he had tried to rehome the dog, but nobody would take him because he was “vicious.”
Tommie was found in Richmond, Virginia, with widespread burns on his body – he had been tied to a pole and doused in accelerant. Ultimately, the burns claimed his life five days after he was found. Hill explained what he did, “I grabbed the dog, put a leash on it, saw the lighter fluid, grabbed it — and me and the dog took off to [Abner] Clay park.”
Hill denies being impaired at the time that he burned Tommie, but claims that he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and that he blacked out during the cruel incident.
Hill was arrested in May on a felony animal cruelty charge – he is behind bars at the Richmond City Justice Center.

NO EXCUSE. What this guy did is the malicious act of a scumbag coward. Keep him behind bars (unless they can fry him and make the world a better place for everyone) forever. It seems that all of these low-lifes who abuse animals have some kind of excuse that they believe absolves them of responsibility for their actions. I say again – NO EXCUSE.
