Late last month, poachers on a quest to kill tigers and dolphins were killed in a shootout with police in Bangladesh. As reported by the Epoch Times, four poachers were killed on May 29 in a thick mangrove forest.

The poachers, who were on a boat, were taken out by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) – a spokesperson stated:

“The RAB personnel challenged the suspected poachers, who opened fire on the security forces, sparking a gun-battle, in which four persons were killed,”

The poachers were identified as members of a gang which is known for poaching endangered tigers and Irrawaddy dolphins, reports AFP. The tiger population in this area has plummeted to just over 100 – falling from over 400 in the last 15 years.
