Three bear cubs may be put down if a new home cannot be found

Three orphaned bear cubs are in desperate need of somewhere to go – if a new “home” cannot be found, they may be put down, reports News Saskatoon.The black bear cubs are currently at The Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and founder Jan Shadick says that they need a new place to go by Thursday.

The cubs have only been at the rehabilitation centre since Monday, but conservation officers have given an ultimatum that they move elsewhere. On June 3, information about the cubs was posted to the agency’s Facebook page:

The Coté First Nation pulled together and found the babies after the mother was shot and brought them to our care. But unless we can support our bear rehabber (Healing Haven Wildlife Rescue Inc) to upgrade his facility or encourage the province to export them to another rehabber, they are going to be confiscated this afternoon. Unless there is a placement for them, we assume the worst.
