At the Harris County Animal Shelter, we meet ‘Dove,’ and her story hurts our hearts. Volunteers say she is giving up right before our eyes.

“…She hardly resembles a dog anymore. This girl is giving up … right before our eyes. Why shouldn’t she? She has nothing going for her. No one wants her. No one is looking for her. No one loves her … and we think she knows it.”

At this time, it is not known if humane euthanasia is the best option for Dove, and no one knows if she has one year, one month or even one day left. This is what is known about Dove.

  • She is 13-years-old
  • Unknown heartworm status
  • Nails and coat are a mess
  • 18″ mass on the right side of her abdomen
  • Multiple lacerations
  • One of her front legs is swollen with an excessive accumulation of fluid
  • Suspected mammary tumor

Check out her video here.

Dove deserves better.

“We can’t let this girl go without her knowing love and a kind touch. She at least deserves that and to pass with dignity…”

  1. Dove was rescued by Friends of Emma Medical Rescue. She was immediately taken to the vet, and it was determined that it was too late for her. She was so sick, and was suffering. She was helped to cross the bridge, which was probably the most loving gesture that anyone ever did for her. Rest easy, sweet girl.
