The fight continues to keep a horribly burned dog alive. The pit bull, dubbed Tommie, sustained burns over most of his body after someone tied him to a pole, doused him in accelerant and set him on fire days ago in Virginia.
As Tommie continues to battle for his life, a team of supporters has stepped up to ensure that he has the best possible chance of survival. On Wednesday, the Richmond Animal Care and Control agency expressed gratitude for the people who are working to keep Tommie alive, and showing him their love and support:
Staff from the VCU Evans-Haynes Burn Center volunteered again today and have set up a rotating schedule to assist Tommie everyday with expert wound care. City of Richmond, VA Fire Department Engine 5 first responders that saved Tommie stopped by to see him tonight and share their love. Multiple vet clinics, medical companies and support staff from around the country have reached out in an effort to help. #teamtommie is growing and we are very grateful!!!
Finding whoever is responsible
The sadistic manner which Tommie was injured has resulted in a huge effort to find the individual responsible. The animal control agency explained how the reward fund has grown:

Everything possible is being done to keep Tommie alive, but his future remains uncertain. As reported by WHSV News, Tommie’s burns are getting worse and he may not make it.

Such a horribly despicable act! However, I do wonder if the greater kindness would be to release Tommie from his pain. I rarely say that, but why subject him to agonizing pain and infection, if his prognosis is not encouraging?
I wouldn’t be sad to hear that someone found, and shot his abuser(s).
