A woman in Wilson County, Texas, has been arrested for the severe neglect of her dogs – and it’s not the first time that she has done this. As reported by KSAT News, it was just last year that Glori Penshorn surrendered 70 dogs. This time around, the woman who claims to run an “animal foster program,” was sent to jail and 11 neglected dogs were removed from her home; one dog later died.

Penshorn hit the radar of local authorities in April 2018 after neighbors complained about her property – at that time, 84 dogs were found at her home. She surrendered all but 10.

This time, the neglected dogs were taken in at the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter – one dog, Titan, was in such bad shape that he could not be saved. On Thursday, the animal-welfare agency wrote:

We are…heartbroken…so heartbroken for Titan. He was sadly too far gone to survive the starvation, dehydration and parasites he endured at the hands of a cruel human being. He was most likely less than 24 hours from death by the time he was rescued and began receiving treatment. If we could have got to him just a few days sooner….

The shelter alerted Facebook followers to the poor condition of the seized dogs shortly after they were taken in:

These 11 dogs were removed from the property and went straight to Deason’s Animal Hospital for evaluation and treatment. We are very thankful for the deputy who took the initial report, made the arrest, and is filing charges for animal cruelty. There are other details that we cannot discuss right now, but will continue to update as the case progresses.

Adding:

Body conditions ranked from 1/9 to 3/9. Normal range is 4 to 5 out of 9. Most of these dogs should weigh about 50-60 lbs, but weighed 21 to 43 lbs. Most have hook worms, round worms, and whip worms. All have mange. One is confirmed to have sarcoptic mange. He is also in critical condition due to starvation, anemia, parasitic infestation, and dehydration. One is heart worm positive and retaining fluid as a result of the advanced stage.

Penshorn has already been released on bond.
