A nine-year-old dog named “Lucky” was surrendered on Wednesday to the East Valley Animal Shelter in California. The horribly, matted mess could barely be recognized as  even being a dog; the hypocrisy of having been named “Lucky”.

“Those who have seen this dog, in this condition, are speechless!,” posted a volunteer animal advocate on social media, hoping to garner support for either a foster home or adopter. “We can’t wait to see him after he is shaved and rescued/adopted and in a home where he’ll never be neglected again.”

Lucky’s owner told shelter workers they surrendered him because he was aggressive to people.

“It never fails that a dog named ‘Lucky’ is just doomed…It is a sad thing to see when the best thing to happen in a dog’s whole life is to get turned into the shelter but he has finally been groomed and is feeling better than he has in a long time.”

Although it is unclear if the dog’s owner will be charged with neglect, right now Lucky is feeling better. Lucky has been groomed, and it is hoped his life will now turn around. Share his plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

PetHarbor adoption listing:

“My name is Lucky and I am an unaltered male, black and white Mixed breed.

The shelter thinks I am about 9 years old.
I weigh approximately 18 pounds.

I have been at the shelter since Oct 02, 2019.”
