A Tennessee man was arrested and is facing charges for allegedly kicking his mother’s dog off of an Alcoa, Tennessee, motel balcony. According to multiple reports, 32-year-old Zachary Keith Matheson is facing an aggravated animal cruelty charge for the incident, which took place at the Alcoa Inn, last weekend.
Matheson’s mother reached out to the police because her nine-year-old dog was missing. She told the authorities that her son claimed the dog jumped from the second-floor balcony when he opened the door; the woman informed the officer that she didn’t believe her son’s story because he was mad at her for not taking him to the liquor store.
An officer was able to review the motel’s surveillance footage and witnessed video showing Matheson kicking the dog off of the balcony. The report states, “a bunch of movement in the room through the open door, and then the dog is seen flying through the air.”
As reported by the Daily Times, the police are not sure of the whereabouts or condition of the dog who was kicked.
Matheson was booked on a $6,500 bond.
