In Panama City Beach, a teen stabbed, slashed his dogs throat and burned its body on Thursday night because ‘God told’ him to, reported the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, after finding the burned German shepherd’s body in an empty lot.
According to the PanhandleNews, Matthew Wilkes, 18, from Sarasota County, has been charged with felony animal cruelty and tampering with evidence. A spokesperson stated a 911 call was made reporting a fire in an empty lot on North Lagoon Drive. The Bay County Fire Department responded and discovered the charred body of a dog.
Close examination of the German shepherd showed his neck had been slashed; a microchip identified the dog as belonging to Wilkes. When interviewed, Wilkes stated ‘God told’ him to kill his three-year-old dog named Sampson.
