A Louisiana teen is accused of sawing off her family dog’s hind legs. As reported by WWLTV, a 17-year-old girl is facing a charge for aggravated cruelty to animals for allegedly cutting off the rear legs of a dog named Buddy.
According to the news agency, the teen’s 50-year-old mother is also facing a cruelty charge for failing to get the dog veterinary care. Buddy was discovered in a mobile home park in Slidell – his owners told investigators that the dog was paralyzed in his rear legs after being shot in early 2019.
The mother/daughter duo claimed that they had bandaged Buddy’s rear legs to keep them from becoming injured when he dragged them, and that the bandages were so tight that the legs “fell off.” But, the odd claim did not hold water because the bones on Buddy’s rear legs were cleanly severed.
Buddy is recuperating at Dante’s Hope Rescue East – the rescue agency has been fundraising to cover the dog’s considerable veterinary costs. Find the rescue group on Facebook here.
Another 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged in connection with this cruelty case. The girl admitted that she had abandoned the dog after he was hurt – the girl, who has not been identified, has been released on a custodial agreement.
