In Staten Island, New York, a 28-year-old man is alleged to have hurled a dog and caged hamsters out of a third-story window on Friday. Steve Fenton was arrested and faces multiple aggravated animal cruelty charges.
According to the SiLiveNews, eyewitnesses told police a Yorkshire terrier along with two hamsters and a guinea pig were tossed out of the window by Fenton. The pets landed in the side yard – the dog’s lifeless body had a pair of scissors lodged in the left side of his head. One hamster was seen crawling away after its cage broke from the impact of the fall. Neither the guinea pig nor the hamsters have been found.
The pets belonged to Fenton’s wife, and he allegedly left the pets on the lawn for police and his wife to find.
Fenton has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and three counts of torturing and injuring animals. He is being held at Rikers Island in lieu of bond set at $15,000/$7,500.
