A starved dog is fighting for her life – the female mixed breed dog, dubbed Fawn, was taken in at the Herkimer County Humane Society in Mohawk, New York, on Friday. The non-profit animal welfare agency posted several photos of the skeletal dog for its Facebook followers, and wrote:
Today, this dog was brought to the HCHS. She is in need of a lot of love and extensive medical attention.
What happened to Fawn?
Was this dog abandoned and left to starve? Or was she kept in a cage or kennel and denied food? She is literally skin and bones – all fat and muscle has wasted away, leaving her frail and clinging to life.
The humane society has asked for donations to be made on behalf of the starved dog – writing:
Please open your hearts, and donate directly to Herkimer Veterinary Associates at 315-866-9999.
Information needed
Someone knows something about this frail dog. The animal shelter staff is hopeful that information about her will be provided by a member of the public – the agency wrote:
If this dog looks familiar to you or know any information please private message us.

She survived living in sewers – incredible recovery!
Anyone who would purposely starve an animal is the lowest form of life on this planet. That is a cruelty that goes beyond any workable definition. I was starved as a child by my sister’s father. He was not my father thank God, but it was his favorite form of punishment. It is very very painful physically and emotionally. I will keep this innocent dog in my prayers and hope she can pull through and find love in the arms of somebody who would never do something as cruel.
Hope they find the vile monster who allowed this to happen to this precious dog. How can any one look at this dog and let her life continue in this spiral? You can’t take care of this dog, they take her to a shelter and say you found her wandering the streets. In this condition I doubt that any shelter would turn this pup away. Please save Fawn
PLEASE send us a donation link.
how cheap is dog food. maybe not the best but still food. what evil people to not feed this poor little dog.
I pray that karma comes to them big time.
I have called their phones number because there is no donation link, and I can’t get ahold of anyone to take my donation info. I left a message and, hopefully, they will return my call. I will post when I am able to reach them.
Sorry to say–it is getting harder and harder to donate and/or sponsor animals because it is so difficult to get through to many shelters. Recently, I received a response after waiting four months. This is NOT helping the animals.
In any event, I am anxiously awaiting a response from THIS organization because I want to know the status of Fawn and make a donation ASAP.
Still trying to make a donation. Can’t reach anybody at the vet office or shelter.
I give up. Guess they don’t want donations.
It is in post…YOU can donate DIRECTLY to veterinarians, it even has a phone#!
Yes–I called that number for three days, left messages and was never able to connect with anyone? Were you able to?
I am so happy! They called back so I will be able to donate. I will find out if there is a better phone number to make it easier for people to donate.
After playing phone tag for days (because of the time difference), I was able to reach them and make my donation today! A better phone number for donations is (315) 866-3255. Please help Fawn. Thank you very much.
I don’t think my last post was published. Does anyone know how Dawn is doing?
