On July 8, someone stole an elderly, disabled dog from a woman’s yard in Ventura, California. The dog, a pug named Gaga, disappeared sometime between 11:00 and 1:00 on Ventura Avenue near Shell Rd. Her owner, Jessica, has been putting up flyers and utilizing social media in an effort to bring Gaga back home.

Stolen disabled dog

In a public Facebook post, Jessica explains Gaga’s disability:

Gaga has paralysis of the back legs. She gets around by dragging her back legs.

She added:

She is not injured, or neglected. She is in fact on three different medications and CBD. She has a dog wheel chair designed for her condition. She is extremely loved and cared for.

Jessica speculates that someone may have thought that Gaga is neglected because of her disability. She writes:

The only reason I can imagine anyone stealing an elderly paralyzed dog is if they thought she was somehow abused or neglected. That is not the case here. Please bring my dog home.

A reward of $1,000 is being offered for Gaga’s safe return. Anyone with information is asked to call Jessica. Find her Facebook post about this situation here.

  1. I had a similar experience–someone stole our precious baby pet ducks out of our yard “to save them”! SHE NEEDS TO FILE A POLICE REPORT LIKE WE DID! Also, I would definitely UP the reward!

  2. If someone feels a dog is being neglected then they should report it to the authorities before taking matters into their own hands. As in this case you don’t know what is really going on. The authorities can sort things out and take the appropriate steps if abuse is happening. I can’t imagine Jessica’s heartache, I truly hope she is able to find Gaga and get her back.
