A dog who was shot multiple times in the head, neck and shoulder is showing a remarkable will to survive. The pit bull, dubbed Cane, was discovered alongside a road and taken in at the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Upon intake, his condition was so dire that it was unknown if he would live or die.

But Cane is proving that he is a survivor. On Monday, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society updated Facebook followers about his progress:

Cane is doing better today, all tubes were removed. He is still receiving oral medication and requires continuous monitoring. Cane isn’t out of the woods yet future surgeries to remove the bullets and repair a torn ACL are still on hold until he is deemed strong enough. We hope that he will soon receive the medical care he needs. During his stay at Cascade Veterinary Clinic Dr. Leah Edwards has done an amazing job treating Cane.

If you would like to donate to Cane’s medical treatment please do so at this link.

Whoever hurt Cane is still out there. Cane was found on the night of June 5 near Bee Hive and Mission; he is neutered and has a scar on his abdomen. If you have any information please call Wenatchee Animal Care & Control at 509-662-9577, Option 1.
