Recently, a California animal shelter issued a plea on behalf of a senior dog who was stricken with cancer. The eight-year-old Saint Bernard, named Stroodle, wound up at the Placer SPCA after her owner passed away. Shortly after she was rescued from her home, veterinarians discovered that she has a malignant tumor in her stomach – she has been given months to live.
Leilani Fratas, with the Placer SPCA, tells CBS Sacramento, “I’m trying not to get teary-eyed, but when I think about the fact that Stroodle deserves a wonderful home for her remaining life.” She adds, “Our Thanksgiving wish really, if we had one, it would be to find her a hospice adoptor who’s prepared to take on a pretty big responsibility.”
And that Thanksgiving wish was answered. On Thanksgiving day, the animal shelter let Facebook followers know that sweet Stroodle found her forever home:
We’re so very thankful for this amazing family for opening their hearts and home to Stroodle! They will be taking Stroodle home tomorrow, so be on the lookout for a video on her going home. Thank you to all of our Facebook friends for helping spread the word about sweet Stroodle!
Enjoy the rest of your life with your new family Stroodle!
