Out of Las Cruces, New Mexico, a star is born – this time however a two-year-old terrier mix named Monte will be walking down the red carpet. Rescued from Animal Services of the Mesilla Valley by HALO Animal Rescue in Phoenix in April 2018, the remake of “Lady and the Tramp” will be sending our hearts aflutter with sweetness.

According to the Las Crucesv Sun News, Monte will be playing the Tramp. So how did he get to be a canine talent?

“The Mesilla Valley animal shelter sent us a load of dogs. They usually send us 50 at a time and Monte was a part of that lucky load on April 26, 2018,” stated Heather Allen, President and CEO of HALO Animal Rescue.

His notes said he was super friendly, greets people right away, gives kisses, loves attention, he knows how to sit, and walks well on a leash. He didn’t look like what he does in his movie photo. His terrier hair wasn’t full grown and he was still maturing.”

And then came the talent search, and it had been kept under wraps exactly what Hollywood was looking for and what kind of pooch would be perfect for the job. And when it came to be, Monte was  chosen and adopted by animal trainers;  beside his celebrity status, Monte is a regular pooch with lots of love and attention from his family.

Disney chose to search for a rescue dog to help people recognize shelter animals realize can be wonderful companions, and people can find their rising star at their nearest animal rescue organizations.

Tramp’s voice will come from Justin Theroux in the movie. The Cocker Spaniel named Rose who plays Lady will be voiced by Tess Thompson, Sam Elliott as Trusty the Bloodhound, Janelle Monae as Peg, Ashley Jensen as Jock and Benedict Wong as Bull.

The film will be out on November 12 on Disney’s streaming service, so gather up your shelter pooches, cuddle together on the couch and witness how smart and beautiful rescue pets truly can be.
