A severely injured dog, discovered by a good Samaritan in mid-July, had to be put down, and now the Salt River Police Department is hoping to find the dog’s abuser. According to multiple sources, the chocolate Labrador retriever was found near Beeline Highway and McDowell Road, and taken to the Arizona Humane Society.
A veterinarian who treated the two-year-old dog determined that the injuries to his front paws were too severe and humane euthanasia was the only option. As reported by ABC 15 News, the attending veterinarian explained that, “the dog’s front paws had the circulation cut off for an extended period and due to the nature of the injuries had to be euthanized.”
It is believed that the dog was intentionally injured and the authorities are seeking information to help lead them to an arrest. Anyone with a tip is asked to contact the Salt River PD at SRPDPIO@SRPMIC-nsn.gov or to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.
