Several dogs, belonging to a woman found living in a van, will likely be euthanized because they are in such poor condition. As reported by WSFA News, police discovered 22 dogs and a bird inside of a van that was pulled over in Wethersfield, Connecticut, on Monday.

The animals belong to 58-year-old Suzanne Eser, who is now facing multiple animal cruelty charges. Police Chief James Cetran commented on the deplorable conditions discovered inside of the van:

The officer called for public health to come to the van because it was so bad. A veteran sergeant [said] to me that in all the things he has seen in all the years he has been here, this has to fall into the top five of the worst he’s ever seen.

The animals found in the vehicle were transferred to area shelters to be evaluated – up to seven of the dogs may be put down because they were in such poor condition.
