Senior pup Rocky waits and watches for his family: No one came for him

Rocky is a senior, and his heartbreaking tale is just one of thousands, but when we see it and feel his pain, the reality sets in. For hours every day, Rocky sits, watches and waits for his family to come and take him home.

Rocky’s story began and may very well end at the Miami-Dade Animal Service. This poor dog has revisited the shelter numerous times. It appears he was adopted as a puppy based on his older identification number (A1203103). Four years ago, he showed up as a stray and was lucky enough to have been adopted again, but this time, on December 12, 2018 – at eight-years-old, he is back as a stray, and no one has come to rescue him.

“Now this sweet soul sits behind bars crying in his despair for a family that discarded him like trash in his golden years,” a volunteer writes on the Urgent Dogs and Cats of Miami Facebook page set up to help these wonderful pets find homes before their futures are gone. “We cannot let this angel down. He deserves his happily ever after. Please share him far and wide. The only hope he has is us.”

“I am a neutered male, brown Labrador Retriever mix. The shelter staff think I am about 9 years old. I have been at the shelter since Dec 10, 2018.”

  1. If he could be adopted twice, he must be an exceptionally happy dog and very good with people. Hope a family that understands his needs will come in to get him and keep him forever.
