Senior dog homeless at shelter almost his entire life

Senior dog has been at shelter, without his own family, for almost his entire life

A senior dog, ten years of age, has been at a New York shelter, without a family of his own, for almost his entire life. The dog, named Zeus, has called The Shelter Connection, in Port Washington, “home” since 2011.

On Sept. 5, Paws Give Me Purpose Inc. writes:

He’s an adorable boy with his signature one ear up, one ear down look! Sadly, this cutie is the longest resident at The Shelter Connection in Port Washington, New York — sitting behind bars since 2011. Heartbreaking doesn’t even begin to describe the depth of our feelings about this.

With a bit of information about the senior dog’s personality:

Zeus is a Pitbull mix, around 10 years young, a goofy guy with a very loving personality. He is a big clown who loves hanging out with the shelter staff and volunteers. Zeus knows all of his basic commands and so much more! Zeus is an extremely well behaved boy who is waiting for the love of his life to walk through those shelter doors and take him home.

So why is this handsome dog still homeless after all these years? He needs to be the only pet in the household, and he is a pit bull…two strikes against him. But those strikes should not determine the ultimate fate of his life. Please share Zeus’ story and help him find that one special person who is looking for a loving companion.

Note: All inquiries about Zeus must be directed to The Shelter Connection. The Pet Rescue Report is NOT the point of contact. Thank you.
