Senior Dachshund at high kill shelter deserves better

A ten-year-old Dachshund has been waiting for someone to hold him and tell him everything will be fine. Instead he cowers in the corner of his shelter cage at Riverside County Animal Control.

I am a male, brown Dachshund mix. The shelter staff think I am about 10 years old. I have been at the shelter since Apr 11, 2019. This information was refreshed 8 hours ago and may not represent all of the animals at the Riverside Shelter.

According to Saving Riverside Shelter Dogs, the pup dubbed Hero displays neck pain. A physical examination of the dog reveals an enlarged, firm testicle which might be cancerous. Donations have been pledged and will be made payable to an approved rescue organization. Please share Hero’s plight with rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts.
