Update: Rest in peace Hero. Euthanized at shelter on 9/20/19

A senior boy, nine years of age, was taken in at the Riverside County Animal Control – Riverside Shelter  in California on August 13. And though the old boy has a microchip, nobody came to get him. Now, he has run out of time and he may draw his last breath inside of the facility…with no one he knows by his side.

An advocate writes of the dog’s (dubbed Hero) precarious situation:

If a dog as sweet as Hero doesn’t make it, there’s just no hope. This sweet boy was on microchip hold but no one ever came: no one thought enough of him to race down to the shelter & smother him with kisses. Being disposable is soul crushing for any living being, yet 9 yr old Hero still wags his tail & graces all with his sunny disposition. Hero was moved out of public view today. He will die tomorrow. RIVERSIDE, CA

Will you please be Hero’s hero? His family didn’t come for him, but if enough people network his information, an adopter or rescue group may be found in time.

  1. That poor, precious treasure…… my instinct is to want to snuggle him and reassure him that the world is “OK”……

Has anyone contacted Frosted Faces or No Paws Left Behind?

I don’t know who to contact at either group, just that they can (& often do) help with seniors and medically fragile cases…..

I hope a rescue group can save Hero. He deserves to be treated as a beloved family member for however long a time he has left and not die in the shelter alone, afraid and (worst of all) unloved…….

WTF is wrong with people??? Most of us want our furbabies to be with us for as long as possible and we savor each and every day our precious treasures are with us……

This so called family who gave up on Hero has reserved places in Hell waiting where they will burn forever for their cruelty…… Do they really think there is a long line of potential adopters for an elderly furbaby???

  2. Another precious life not worth rescuing. Shame on whoever owned him. They are murderers! How I wish I had the means to rescue them all.
