Update 6/10/19: The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society provided Facebook followers with an update about the dog, dubbed Cane:

Cane is doing better today, all tubes were removed. He is still receiving oral medication and requires continuous monitoring. Cane isn’t out of the woods yet future surgeries to remove the bullets and repair a torn ACL are still on hold until he is deemed strong enough. We hope that he will soon receive the medical care he needs. During his stay at Cascade Veterinary Clinic Dr. Leah Edwards has done an amazing job treating Cane.

An animal welfare agency in Wenatchee, Washington, is seeking answers after a severely injured dog, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was found on the side of the road. The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society reports that a man found the dog on the night of June 5 near Bee Hive and Mission.

The man took the grievously wounded dog the humane society and an animal control officer transported him to Countryside Veterinarian for emergency care.  An exam and x-rays showed that the dog was shot multiple times in the head, neck and shoulder with a hollow point round from a small caliber pistol.

The dog is receiving care from a shelter veterinarian – it is unclear if he will be able to survive the gunshot injuries.

The shelter is hopeful that someone will come forward with information about the dog and/or his owner. The animal welfare agency described the dog in detail:

The dog is a large adult male, American Pit Bull/Terrier mix, silver/white, neutered and has a previous abdominal scar, indicating that he has an owner. When found, the dog was not wearing a collar and was without identification or microchip.

If you have any information please call Wenatchee Animal Care & Control at 509-662-9577, Option 1.

Latest update Friday morning:

A quick update on the dog found Wednesday evening:
He’s being sent to Cascade Veterinary Clinic over the weekend for supportive care. He is in a lot of pain and is still not stable enough for surgery. For those inquiring about medical donations, they are greatly appreciated and can be made here- wenatcheehumane.org/medical-fund-donation
