A seal pup suffered an early demise after two children chased it into the ocean. As reported by Winterton-on-Sea, the pup was so young that its fur was not yet waterproof and it drowned. Another seal pup died the same day after being separated from its mother by a crowd of people – that pup was abandoned by the mother who was prevented from getting to her baby.

The first pup, who drowned, was chased by boys who were in the presence of their mother. Volunteer wardens, with Friends of Horsey Seals (FOHS), had approached the mother and advised her that her children should not chase the pup, but she ignored the request.

An FOHS spokesperson stated:

two in a day was a little too much. We needs to raise as much awareness about keeping a distance and pups should not be chased into the sea, especially white coats.”

Adding:

“We lost two young healthy pups due to human intervention.”

  1. I am shocked at the behavior of the so called parent. My parents would never have allowed us to harass wildlife. Neither do my husband and I. There are severe consequences for “bad or dangerous” behaviors…….

In some states (eg., California), there are huge fines for harassing wildlife, especially marine wildlife……..

My Dad always said that one can fix many things, but it’s impossible to fix stupid…… Perhaps that stupid parent should lose custody of her kids, pay a.huge fine AND those monsters should have to perform community services for one year (pick up trash at the beach).
