Saving Solo: He was abandoned on the street and now slated to die

Once upon a time Solo had a family. Once upon a time Solo was loved, but on December 18, someone pulled out his leash and said, “let’s go out for a walk.” And with that invitation, nine-year-old Solo felt the coolness of the brisk winter air excited to walk down the street with his human and inhale all of the fresh smells.

We will never know why this sweet brindle coated pup was tied up – abandoned and left shivering when his owner disappeared. Consequently, Solo is scheduled to die on Monday at the Brooklyn facility of New York City Animal Care Centers. No one has reserved him – no one has come to save his life.

“I love Solo – he is as they say the perfect gentleman,” a volunteer writes. “He sits, gives paw, housebroken, and so incredibly sweet. Don’t be fooled by his size – he is a totally love bug.”

The friendly pup has charmed both the intake and medical staff. He aced his shelter assessment, and although he should have earned an average rating (able to be adopted without any exceptions), a negative experience in his playgroup restricts his adoption to families with children over 13-years-old.
