An incredibly sad, senior dog is being held, unseen by the public, at a busy California animal control agency. The 10-year-old dog, named Charlie, has been at the Los Angeles Animal Services (East Valley Shelter) since December 20.

Depressed and neglected

Charlie’s body screams of neglect, and his eyes reveal that he has lost hope. Has anyone ever loved this dog? Or did he spend his life outside fending for himself? Was he chained outside in a yard, away from the people that he wanted to be near? Nobody knows Charlie’s past – at this point, it no longer matters. Charlie needs to find a home where he can finally, after all these years, know what it means to be loved and cared for.

An advocate writes:

This guy is super sad. Not feeling well for so many reasons. Solar dermatitis and other skin issues. A large laceration on my the top of his neck, and an upper respiratory infection AND he’s soooo dirty. Hoping for a miracle for him. He’s back in the medical department receiving extra care, so he’s UNSEEN by the public.

This is amazing to hear! How do I pledge exactly? I have never done it before and want to do it for other animals, too! Thank you for the info!

      • I would like to get his original thread, so I can comment and pledge and network him. I will pledge 5. Is there any news about precious Charlie

      • I don’t know where to find the original thread, but I will make calls today for adoption status and let you know.

All I can find out is that Charlie was rescued. The shelter has done absolutely nothing to help me find the rescue organization so I can sponsor Charlie. Never ever again will I donate to this shelter!

  1. I am waiting for confirmation that Charlie has been adopted by a rescue organization! Does anyone know for sure? I want to find out if the rescue organization needs donations. Thank you for your help in letting me know!

  2. I have just spent over an hour (long distance), including eight separate calls to the shelter to try to find which rescue group has Charlie because I want to sponsor him. It seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to find this information. It was just a wasted wild goose chase of phone tag with no results! Can anyone please help? Thank you very much.

  3. I saw an “alarming” post on the Love Leo instagram site that said “Rest in Peace”! I am hoping and praying that this is a mistake. Would someone please check this out and let us know? Thank you very much.
