Russian polar bear spray painted with ‘T-34’ could end up with his death

A viral video of a polar bear in Russia spray painted with “T-34” in black is feared it could affect the animal’s ability to blend in with his surroundings and hunt for food – possibly ending with his death.

In the video posted on Facebook  by Sergey Kavry, a member of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), he stated it had been shared with the indigenous people of the Chukotka region in Russia’s Far East and scientists in the area would never have branded a polar bear that way.

The T-34 was a tank that played a vital role when the Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany in World War II.

A scientist at the Institute of Biological Problems of the North, stated it was unlikely the bear would have stood still while someone spray painted him, and it is possible the bear had been sedated. He said the bear could not have been moving around while it was being sprayed because “the characters are evenly written and are all the same size.”

It is expected for the spray paint to take weeks to wear off. During this time, the bear might not be able to blend in with the Arctic snow and ice – so important to his hunting abilities.

Whatever reason this was done, it was bad news and not funny at all joke! Why isn’t wildlife allowed to live their lives in peace without stupid humans insisting on playing practical jokes?

We can only hope the bear survives.
