In Round Rock, Texas, the owner of a dog allegedly dragged his dog for nearly a mile and ran over him with his truck. Zager Yuseth Zelaya-Rubio has been accused of “knowingly and recklessly” torturing his bull terrier named Champ.

According to KvueNews, the police report cites several witnesses who observed Zelaya-Rubio, 28, dragging the dog that had been tethered to vehicle and entangled in the wheel well ejecting him onto the road. Police believe Zelaya-Rubio was fully cognizant of his dog being dragged and ran over the dog on purpose.

When police arrived at the scene, they immediately began emergency treatment on Champ and applied pressure to the dog’s wounds to slow down the bleeding. The dog also suffered burns and lacerations over his entire body.

“It was severe, severe injuries and traumas, not only to its paws, but its hind legs as well. Just because he’s an animal, that’s no different than the same care we would give a human being if we saw those injuries,” stated Officer John Schultz with the Round Rock Police Department.

Champ is currently in the care of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter where he is receiving 24-hour care by a private veterinary clinic.

“Champ is suffering from extremely painful and severe injuries on his paws, knees, legs, and thigh. His round-the-clock medical care is being provided by an outside vet clinic and is completely funded by donations. Please consider making a donation to Jane’s Fund, our Medical Fund, so the shelter can care for Champ and any animal suffering from injuries. Thank you for being a life saver.”

The Round Rock Police Department will also be helping with donations for Champ’s care.

  1. Hope this POS is locked up forever with animal lovers who can give him “special attention”…….
Hope the rest of his useless life is filled with pain and suffering. Execution would improve our planet since this POS is a waste of resources……
I just know that anyone who is deliberately cruel to others (people and animals) will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty…… Here’s hoping they get there ASAP after suffering in pain, alone, terrified and worst of all, unloved as they die (as they did to others)…….

I am glad Champ survived this horrible ordeal. I hope he recovers ASAP and is rehomed into a loving furever family who will treat him as a beloved family member!!!
