Rescuers save deer from icy pond

Today, rescuers in Central Pierce County, Washington, responded to calls for help after a deer fell into an ice-covered pond. Thanks to crews with Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, the deer is alive and recuperating from the frightening ordeal.

On Thursday, the rescue agency posted video of the effort to Facebook and Twitter – writing:

Fish and Wildlife Officers along with Pierce County Sheriff’s Departmentand our Special Operations Swift Water Team assisting the deer this morning on South Hill Puyallup. The deer is recovering from exhaustion!

The agency is receiving accolades for the rescue effort. One person wrote:

Thank You so much for saving that precious creation!! Thank You!

And another:

You guys are awesome!! Thank You for all you do!! Stay safe out there!!!
