A raccoon, described as an older female, recently found herself in a frightening predicament in Arizona. On June 29, the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center posted images of the cement-caked raccoon, and recounted what had happened.
Imagine being stuck in wet cement. The harder this poor raccoon struggled to free herself the further she sank. Evening temps were cool that night, and as the cement began to set up, she was losing body heat. It’s a wonder she survived until her rescuers could get there.
The raccoon was already suffering with the toll of being stuck in the cement – she was cold and the cement was setting up.
The struggling animal was warmed and provided with I.V. fluids. At the suggestion of veterinary technician, the raccoon’s fur was doused with vinegar and razors were used to cut the cement away. It was a slow, daunting process, but in the end, the beleaguered animal was finally free.

The warm vinegar water worked miracles! Our patient came out of her bath with healthy looking pink skin.
She needs time and good medical care to recover. We can give her both. Thanks for the miracles your donations create every day. We’ll keep you posted!
