A 13-week-old pit bull puppy may lose her leg after being severely beaten by a man. As reported by WHDH News, 25-year-old Jamal Escobar allegedly beat the pup, dubbed Ellie, while fighting with his girlfriend.
Escobar’s girlfriend called 9-1-1 and told the Somerville police that,
“She was in the shower and heard what sounded like the dog being struck. She then heard the dog crying. The dog had been limping after the incident.”
Ellie is currently in the care of the Everett Animal Control and a veterinarian will determine if her leg can be saved.
Everett Animal Control Officer Stacia Gorgone described Ellie’s pain to the news agency:
“She does whimper if she walks on the leg too much, so she’s restricted. She can’t play like a normal dog. She can’t use any stairs. I have to pick her up to take her outside to go to the bathroom.”
Though Escobar’s girlfriend initially reached out to the authorities for help, she has since asked for his charges to be dropped – he is due in court today.

Authorities need to take away the dog from this couple. The guy is an abuser and his girlfriend doesn’t have the strength to leave yet as evidenced by her request to drop charges. They need to be banned from owning animals. I feel for the girlfriend but she’ll capitulate to her abuser and his ways until she figures out she doesn’t have to be treated that way. That means her animals will be harmed because she won’t take herself and her animals out of the environment. He’ll use the animals against her every single time. Soon it will be her, if it’s not already
