At the Franklin County Animal Control in Benton, Illinois, a beautiful pit bull was dumped on the side of a road inside of a wire cage. The public’s help is needed identifying the dog and her owner.

The female dog had been locked in a cage and wore a chain around her neck. She was found on the side of Walnut Road just outside of Royalton. She had no food or water when she was found.

The dog is safe at the shelter. Her picture and the details of her discovery have been shared more than 12,000 times, and it is hoped the owner can be located. Perhaps the healthy looking dog fell from the back of a truck and her owners are looking for her?

Anyone with information is asked to contact Franklin County Animal Control here, or call the office at 618.439.9197.
