A Louisiana man who committed a heinous act of animal cruelty against an innocent cat has been sentenced to years behind bars in prison. According to KALB News, 30-year-old Cody Toups has been sentenced to three years in prison for killing his girlfriend’s cat with a machete.
The crime
The cruel incident happened in August 2018 when Toups grabbed a cat from inside of his girlfriend’s home and hurled the feline into Bayou Lafourche. The father of Toups’ girlfriend tried to retrieve the cat from the bayou, but Toups killed the cat with a machete – the cat’s body was retrieved from the water with a large laceration to its midsection.
In addition to Toups’ time behind bars, he is prohibited from owning an animal for the next 10 years.

An eye for an eye justice is what needs to be done with animal abusers, killers, etc.! This man should be prohibited from being near any animal, not just prohibited from owning an animal for 10 years! Abusers hardly ever change their ways!
How about 10 years in jail and for life to not own an animal? Another slap on the wrist for a murderer! The animal here is Cody Toups, may he rot in Hell!
This vile monsters punishment should be the exact same thing he did to this cat and no less than that. If he survives, through him in jail with no food, water or any care.
Sentence NOT STRICT ENOUGH!
This COMPLETE PSYCHOPATH should be tossed in the swamp with a 40 pound weight tied to him and raw hamburger stuffed in his pants…. and let him become a tidbit for the creatures of the swamp!!! NO Loss to Anyone!!!
