Police in Enfield, Connecticut, are looking for answers after discovering a caged German shepherd who was apparently abandoned over an embankment. The Enfield Police Department reached out to the public for assistance on September 14, asking:

We need your help Enfield !

Earlier today this male German Shepherd 🐕 was found in this crate down an embankment. The dog appears to be healthy and was wearing a blue collar with a black clasp.

After being taken to a veterinarian for an exam, it was determined that the dog was suffering from dehydration. The Facebook post has been shared over 37,000 times, with numerous offers from the public to adopt the dog, but the police have advised that he is not yet up for adoption.

Anyone who recognizes the dog is asked to contact the department. The post explains:

If anyone recognizes this dog or knows the owner please contact Officer Ryan at [email protected] or by voicemail at 860-763-6400 ext 1414
